Hello! It’s a new day and a new question in the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge!
The question for today is: Is there anything in the film adaptations that annoyed you? Excellent question!
I am going to start with the very last film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. So the film’s pretty good and I’ve watched it loads of times but what is with the final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort? Why do they fight with their hands when they have wands, falling off the tower and all that?
J.K.Rowling has written an amazing last chapter, Harry and Voldemort circling with their wands pointed at each other and all the wizards, from both the Light and the Dark sides, waiting in anticipation. Harry explaining what the Flaw in the Plan is, the Great Hall and the silence. I can see it right now! It would have looked so good on screen. But apparently they thought otherwise.
Then, in Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, most of the memories concerning Horcruxes have not been shown. If people were to watch the movie without reading the book, it would be so difficult to understand.
Also, in Goblet of Fire why are Parvati and Padma Patil dressed like that?
That’s not how Rowling writes about them at all. I understand that they have shown the diversity at Hogwarts and I appreciate that but really, I found those outfits annoying. It’s probably the choice of colour. And the fact that they both wear the same colours (alternating them). They are supposed to be wearing “robes of shocking pink” and “bright turquoise”. Anyway, this is the least of the annoying things I suppose.
The sixth movie is also a little annoying sometimes, especially the parts with Lavender and Won-Won 😛 The sixth book has so much more to offer.
I think it is true of almost every book to film adaptation that there will be changes in dialogue and scenes. None of the movies can have everything from the book but it’s okay most of the times.
I have watched the entire series sooo many times and I’ll keep watching it in the future, annoying bits and all. It’s Harry Potter after all!
Which parts did you find annoying in the film adaptations?
