Hello!! I have been a little busy so I couldn’t post every day. I have just started a new job (which I am pretty excited about!) and by the time I come home I am completely exhausted. But there are five more questions left in the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge and I am going to complete it!
The question for day 26 is: If you could be able to work one spell without a wand what would it be?
This is a tough one, again. Like My Tiny Obsessions and Short Story Long I would love to use the Apparation spell. Apparating to places would save so much time and I could avoid all the packed local trains!
It would also be great to use Expecto Patronum and Riddikulus. Both spells require remembering something happy and, in case of Riddikulus, funny too. I really like the idea behind both the spells-remembering something good to counter something that depresses or frightens you.
Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light.
The memories are the light, aren’t they. Of course, the situations in which these spells are used are not really situations I want to be in. But I have always liked these spells, especially Expecto Patronum. Plus, I also want to know what my actual patronus is-it definitely won’t be a komodo dragon!
That’s my answer for day 26! I’ll post the next answers soon 🙂
The question for day 25 in the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge is: Nineteen years later. Are you happy with the way it turned out or do you wish something was different?
Well, I guess I am happy with how it turns out but only in the book. I was not at all happy with how they look in the film, they couldn’t possibly have looked that old! Hermione is the only one who looks okay. And why does Neville say he is a crazy about Luna?? I know that’s not in Nineteen Years Later, but anyway.
I would have obviously liked some more details with respect to the characters’ lives. But I like the fact that not a lot has changed, you know. Hogwarts is still there to welcome new witches and wizards. The new generation seems to be as much trouble as the old one (without the obvious death threat looming over their heads). All of them are just as close as they were before, it couldn’t have been any other way.
The series comes a full circle with Harry, Ron and Hermione’s kids going to Hogwarts.
The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.
I love these lines!
So, yes, I am happy with how things turn out nineteen years later 🙂
The question for day 24 in the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge is: Which scene did you wish was filmed but wasn’t?
Hmm, another tough question.
There are a lot of scenes missing in the films, as we all know already. So pointing out just one is a little difficult.
I have mentioned a few already in some of my earlier posts. They really should have kept the final battle between Harry and Voldemort in the Great Hall! The memories explaining Voldemort’s past should have been shown in the films too.
But I can think of two more scenes which would have been interesting to see on screen. The one where Luna commentates at a quidditch game (Loser’s Lurgy)! That would have been hilarious. I loved reading that part in the book.
The second one is also from the sixth book. The scene at the end, after Dumbledore’s death when Bill is in the hospital wing and everyone has gathered there. I have always loved reading that scene-‘Dumbledore would have been happier than anybody to think that there was a little more love in the world.’ I always imagine how scenes would play out while I am reading them and this one is one of my favourites. It would have been a very good scene to see on screen.
But anyway, I have read the books quite a few times now and I have my own movie versions in my head. Sometimes I wonder about a missing scene in the movie and then remember that I’d made it up in my head and it never was in the movie in the first place. So whenever I feel disappointed about a particular scene not being there in the movie, I go back and read it. That way I can automatically see it in my version of the movies 😉
That’s my answer for today! Until tomorrow!
Welcome back to the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge! The question for day 23: Which scene (book or movie) made you cry the hardest?
It’s a difficult question to answer. Ofcourse all the deaths in the series are difficult to read and watch, especially the first time when you don’t know what’s coming.
But I think I’m going to choose Sirius’ death as the most difficult to read and watch.
It seemed to take Sirius an age to fall: his body curved in a graceful arc as he sank backwards through the ragged veil hanging from the arch.
Harry saw the look of mingled fear and surprise on his godfather’s wasted, once-handsome face as he fell through the ancient doorway and disappeared behind the veil, which fluttered for a moment as though in a high wind, then fell back into place.
Harry heard Bellatrix Lestrange’s triumphant scream, but knew it meant nothing-Sirius had only just fallen through the archway, he would reappear from the other side any second….
But Sirius did not reappear.
‘SIRIUS!’ Harry yelled. ‘SIRIUS!’
Harry’s breath was coming in searing gasps. Sirius must be just behind the curtain, he, Harry, would pull him back out….
But as he sprinted towards the dais, Lupin grabbed Harry afound the chest, holding him back.
‘There’s nothing you can do, Harry-
‘Get him, save him, he’s only just gone through!’
‘-it’s too late, Harry.’
‘We can still reach him-‘Harry struggled hard and viciously, but Lupin would not let go….
‘There’s nothing you can do, Harry…nothing…he’s gone.’
This is one of the first major deaths in the series and it comes as such a surprise when you are first reading it. I also think it has been shown very well in the film. Harry has lost his parents but he doesn’t have a very real memory about it. But with Sirius’ death he knows what it is like to have a family and then lose it. That is why it is such a significant scene.
So that’s my answer for yesterday’s question. I’ll answer today’s question in a bit 🙂
The question for day 22 in the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge is: Would you rather read only Harry Potter for the rest of your life or never knew it existed?
Even though the answer for this question is difficult for me to acknowledge I am sticking to it. I would rather never know that Harry Potter existed.
I couldn’t possibly read only Harry Potter and not read the thousands and thousands of other books available. Don’t get me wrong, I love Harry Potter! There’s hardly any doubt of that if you’ve been reading my blog long enough. But my point is that reading only Harry Potter might change my entire perspective about it and I absolutely do not want that.
Plus, if I never knew it existed I wouldn’t really miss it, would I? I would have all these other books to read.
But I am really really glad that neither of the two scenarios in the question are real! I have Harry Potter and I have lootts of other books too 😉
Welcome back to the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge! The question for day 21 is: Pick one character to bring back from the dead.
Why is this a question? Why? Why? I can’t choose between Sirius, Fred, Dumbledore, Remus, Tonks, Hedwig, Snape, Dobby!!
I would want Sirius to come back because he is the closest to a family for Harry. They never got a chance to live in Grimmauld Place like they’d planned, not really.
I would want Fred to come back because, come on, he’s Fred. There’s no Fred and George without Fred.
I would want Dumbledore to come back because he was a great wizard and someone who could have done so much more for the wizarding world, and ofcourse for Harry.
I would want Remus and Tonks to be back because they were just beginning their new life together and they did not deserve to die.
I would want Hedwig to be back because she was with Harry from the very beginning. She was with Harry when he had no one else, especially at the Dursleys.
I would want Snape to be back because he deserved the peace after the war and after everything he’d gone through (this is true for everyone else too, I suppose).
I would want Dobby back because he’s Dobby. How can I not include Dobby in this list?
But, I think one of the important things that Harry Potter has taught us is that death is inevitable when you live but ‘for the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure’. We have read the story of the three brothers and we have seen what the Resurrection Stone can do to a person. I wouldn’t want that to happen to any of the characters I have mentioned!
So I guess my answer for today is that ofcourse I didn’t want any of them to die, but I really can’t choose a character to bring back from the dead.
It’s day 20 in the Harry Potter 30 day Challenge and the question for today is: If you got to meet one member of the cast, who would it be?
Another tough question! There are a lot of people I want to meet, starting with J.K.Rowling of course. So obviously I can’t choose only one member of the cast that I would like to meet. I’ll just name a few 😉
Let’s start with Alan Rickman! Who wouldn’t want to meet Alan Rickman! He is such an accomplished actor and his voice!
Then there’s Tom Felton ♡ He seems like a really nice person (from the videos I have seen anyway), quite unlike Draco and, well, he’s Tom Felton!
I would love to meet Emma Watson too. She was obviously great as Hermione and she has done some great work after that too. Her HeforShe campaign is also very inspiring. She is not only an actress but also a great example for women everywhere.
I am also going to include J.K.Rowling in this short list (the real list is quite long, believe me) even though technically she is not a part of the cast. But there wouldn’t be a Harry Potter if not for her!
She is such an amazing writer. We have all become a part of the world she has created, even though we come from completely different worlds ourselves.
There are so many others from the cast I would like to meet, but this is enough for now. Anyway, I would be completely awestruck if I did meet any of them, wouldn’t be able to say a word! That’s what happened at the Mumbai ComicCon last year. I was one of the people lucky enough to get an autograph from Mark Gatiss and I was super-excited. But when I went to get the autograph I could only manage a ‘Hi’ and a (I am sure) stupid smile. But I did get this!!
There, I have managed to sneak in the fact that I have Mark Gatiss’ autograph in a Harry Potter post 😉
Anyway, until tomorrow! The questions are getting tougher now!
