There is not a lot that I have to say at the moment. Happens to the best of us. I’ve just been so busy. So I just thought of posting a few quotes from one of my most favourite book series-The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I am hoping that these quotes will make you laugh and maybe think a little too..:-) (The thoughts in brackets are obviously mine.)
–There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened. (It might just explain so much that is not understandable around us.)
–The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.
–“Space,” it says, “is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mindbogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist’s, but that’s just peanuts to space.” (Really gives a perspective on things, doesn’t it?)
–The chances of finding out what’s really going on in the universe are so remote, the only thing to do is hang the sense of it and keep yourself occupied. (Really good advice is all I can say!)
–“Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.” (Maybe we should adopt this too, but the trees would probably not agree. So let’s just take a hint and plant more trees.)
–There is a moment in every dawn when light floats, there is the possibility of magic. Creation holds its breath. (This is so beautifully written!)
–There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
–“Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.” (Everyone in the world would agree.)
–Protect me from knowing what I don’t need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don’t know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Amen. (Might take a little while getting around it, but this is a prayer for all of us.)
(And, this is the most important bit of advice in the entire series. We all need it.)
There are so many more, but then I would have to write five whole books!! Do read it if you haven’t already. And for those who have…isn’t it totally awesome?
Until the next post.
